TROPICAL LACTOSE FREE BANANA MANGO SMOOTHIE
In winter, starting the day with a smoothie is an easy and delicious way to take in some much needed vitamins. Give your winter-breakfast a tropical twist by adding some mango to your day!
I know, a smoothie is not as healthy as eating the actual fruit. Some of the fibres are lost in the blender and you tend to use fruits that are high in sugars. On the other hand, if you don;t eat a lot of fruit, this is the perfect easy and delicious way to get those vitamins in your system!
Also, I'm lactose intolerant and therefore tend to not eat or drink dairy products and so I miss out on calcium. A smoothie with lactose-free milk and yoghurt for me is the perfect way to gain some more calcium.
What I'm trying to say is, sure eating unprocessed fruits is healthier, but as long as you don't drink it every day and every meal, a smoothie is not that bad at all!
WHAT'S IN IT?
- 1/2 mango
- 1 banana
- cup of (lactose-free or almond)milk
- 2 big scoops of quark or (lactose-free) yoghurt
Start by gathering your ingredients. I use half a mango and wrap the other half in sealing foil. Furthermore, I use 1 cup of milk or about 150 ml and 2 tablespoons of quark.
Edit: Did you know that cottage cheese contains less lactose than yoghurt? By only eating 2 spoonfuls, you should be alright, If you're really sensitive you can take one lactase-pill which should keep you from stomach pains!
Cut up those fruits and add them to the foodprocessor or blender. I cut of half a mango and than with a flexible knife cut it into small pieces.
Edit: The fact that the knife is flexible helps by removing the skin of the mango.
Add the quark and the milk. They should drown the fruit pieces, so if you think there's not enough liquid, add some more!
Edit: You can make up your own amounts, but keep in mind that in order to be able to drink the mixture, you'll need more milk than quark.
Turn on that blender and watch the magic happen. The mixture should be smooth, but it's okay to see a little bit of the flesh. Grab a tall serving glass and pour in the mixture in one quick movement. Tadaa, your delicious breakfast is ready, enjoy!
Edit: Cut a little piece of mango and make a small cut in it to stick it on top of the glass, for that fancy feel. ;)
