THE PLEATED METALLIC MIDI SKIRT AS A WINTER LOOK
One of my favourite feminine pieces of all time is the midi skirt. It's so comfy, but accenturates a woman's body perfectly! Yet it's not overly girly. In a metallic colour it can even be quite cool!
I have been looking for a beautiful deep green metallic midi skirt for a long time, but couldn't find one that ticked all the boxes. Then I found this beautiful ice blue metallic skirt at Nelly and I just knew it was the one! The colour makes it versatile and the pleats are so well defined that it creates a beautiful contrasting mix of blue whenever I twirl (which off course I did a lot!).
I bought it recently and when the Netherlands was hit with a wave of snow, I just knew it was the perfect moment to wear it! Pairing it with warm essentials like a black woolen coat and cozy turtleneck sweater kept me warm, while the comfy boots made sure that I shouldn't have to slip in the snow. (which off course I did anyway ;) )
The key to wearing a pleated midi skirt is not only finding the right colour (deep petrol-like green and warm burgundy in metallic are so hot this Christmas!), but also the right kind of pleats and the right length to compliment you body. I'm not that tall and my legs have feminine curves, so I opted for a skirt that would make me look longer while still be modest and showing the narrowest part of my legs.
In my case the perfect fot was just under the knee, on the knee or just above it. I tried a longer length, but it made me look shorter and chubbier than I am. Also, I wanted to show my ankles and the narrow part under my knee and above my calf to avoid looking to heavy, if you know what I mean.
