HOW TO STAND OUT IN STOCKHOLM STREET STYLE
Last week my boyfriend and I visited Stockholm for a few days. The amazing capital of Sweden is known for it's style and design, but we found that there is so much more to Stockholm than this. For instance the kindness and politeness of the people. Never have I met friendlier and more helplfull people who switched to english in a sec when you asked them something.
Their style is impecable too. On every corner there is a design-, vintage or decor-shop, there are what we call hipsters everywhere (but I guess that's the norm there) and the clothes people from Stockholme wear, are of great quality and class.
Dressing the Stockholm-way is wearing toned down colours such as black, grey, navy and camel, wearing a well cut, but oversized coat, a cool beanie on your hat and your bag on your back, not your arm. O, and white shoes are nowhere to be seen. Instead wear more comfy and waterproof leather boots (no heels!) to keep your feet warm in the snow.
In my bright red pants and white shoes I felt like an outsider and the bright colour definitely attracted some attention, hehe. The way to stand out is therefore very easy: wear bright and bold colours! I'm not saying nobody was wearing something bright, but the Swedes tend to make a statement with big coats and shawls to attract attention instead of using colour. Also, stay away from the white shoes when it starts to snow though, leather boots really are more practical in the wintery climate.
